"Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see"

I have been teaching at Kid’s Place for 20 years and I love it! I began my teaching career as a high school English teacher in Vancouver, Canada, which is where I am from. We moved to Seattle twenty-six years ago when my husband accepted a job at the UW as a professor of Biostatistics. I spent many years in cooperative preschool programs with my three sons and became intrigued with early learning. Teaching preschool was what I decided I wanted to do when I went back to work.
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy reading, cooking, working out and spending as much time as I can at a cabin my family shares on the west coast of Vancouver Island.

I absolutely love working with preschoolers! I have worked in childcare for 17 years, the last 12 of which have been at Kids Place. I am so happy to be part of the KP team because our school is child-centered, light hearted, and so much fun! My favorite aspect of this job is watching the children blossom into social, confident and curious learners. I value each child's unique ideas and experiences and encourage them to share them so that I can guide their learning experience in a way that's meaningful to them. I have a bachelors degree in Early Childhood and Family Studies from the University of Washington, which is a wonderful resource. Lastly, my natural inclination toward expressive art serves me well when working with students in our art center. My motto is, if it comes from the heart, then it's art! In sum, I love teaching and couldn’t be happier anywhere else!
